ADRBC (formerly the BCAMI) is a community of ADR professionals working together to generate business opportunities, obtain professional development, and demonstrate the benefits of ADR by upholding the highest standards of ADR practice.
Designations allow our members to convey their level of experience and skill to prospective users of their services based on an objective third party assessment. Users of ADR services or lawyers and other professionals referring clients feel confident knowing that when they choose an ADR professional with a designation they are choosing an individual whose performance has been reviewed and assessed by a committee of senior and respected practitioners who have verified that the professional is working at a particular level.
We are 100% driven by and accountable to members, our members. Comprised of arbitrators and mediators throughout the province, experienced in all professional fields, the Institute is a multifaceted organization that provides a multi-level training program for ADR practitioners; accreditation for its members; referral and appointment service for users, arbitrators and mediators; information on ADR; speaking opportunities.
Our Education Committee is increasing our training offer. New courses in arbitration and mediation and advanced ADR training will be launched. The Improvement and expansion of ADRBC’s training offers will also create professional opportunities for ADRBC (formerly BCAMI) members. Instructors and coaches will be needed and these opportunities are offered to the membership in a clear, transparent process.

Referrals
When the Institute is asked by clients to provide names of members for appointment as a mediator or an arbitrator, the Institute will, on a rotation basis, select from the ADRBC Arbitrator or Mediator Rosters, based on experience, expertise and nature of the dispute.
In addition to referrals for appointment, the Institute appoints, on a rotation basis, the Roster Arbitrator in ICBC and Economical Insurance document-only cases, where parties have failed to reach agreement relating to the value of vehicles written off and for other types of losses.
An appointment fee will be invoiced to the member who accepts an appointment, who must remit it to the Institute within 60 days of the appointment. The fee is $100 plus GST for ICBC & Economical Insurance files. The Appointment Fee is also $100 plus GST for commercial files where the amount in dispute is under $100,000 and $200 plus GST for files disputing amounts over $100,000.
