Marshall Soules (BA Middlebury, PhD Rutgers) taught literature, drama and communications at Vancouver Island University for over twenty years. At VIU, he was founder and chair of the Media Studies Department and Director of the Media Research Lab. After his retirement in 2009, Marshall wrote Media, Persuasion and Propaganda for Edinburgh UP (2015). He continued his education in conflict resolution, taking courses at the Justice Institute of BC, the Master Mediators Workshop in Los Angeles, and working as a corporate trainer and mediator with his partner Donna Soules. He works from his home in Ladysmith, and continues as an Honorary Research Associate at VIU.
