Marco Abruzzi is an experienced mediator and arbitrator dedicated to helping parties resolve disputes with clarity, fairness, and efficiency. Trained in mediation at Harvard Law School and in arbitration through Oxford University and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Marco brings a rigorous, balanced, and practical approach to conflict resolution.
Throughout his career, Marco has focused on creating space for parties to be heard, understood, and engaged in meaningful problem-solving, while guiding them toward durable and workable outcomes, whether through mediation, arbitration, or hybrid processes. In 2025, he founded Abruzzi ADR Arbitration + Mediation to devote his practice exclusively to helping individuals, families, and organizations resolve disputes outside the courtroom.
Marco has more than 15 years of experience as a lawyer handling complex legal matters, including trials and hearings before the British Columbia Supreme Court, as well as institutional and ad hoc tribunals. His practice has spanned a wide range of disputes, including business and shareholder conflicts, First Nations matters, family and estate disputes, and workplace issues.
Prior to entering private practice, Marco served as Crown Counsel with the Department of Justice Canada. In that role, he worked in the Business and Regulatory Law, Aboriginal Law, and National Security and Defence sections, and acted as Legal Advisor to the Department of Fisheries and Oceans. This public-sector experience continues to inform his disciplined, principled, and pragmatic approach to dispute resolution.
Marco is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), a member of the ICC Canada Arbitration Committee, an AAA/ICDR roster arbitrator, and a member of the Toronto Commercial Arbitration Society. He is called to the Bar in British Columbia and Ontario.
