Lawrence Alexander is an Associate at the law firm Gall Legge Grant Zwack. He is in his 26th year of practice. He works primarily in law reform and access to justice. For close to ten years he advised deputy ministers to the Premier in the BC Government — on both sides of the political spectrum. He has worked for the national law firm Heenan Blaikie and the environmental advocate West Coast Environmental Law. He has an active interest in access to justice and the future of the legal profession, serving for three years on an access to legal services advisory committee to the Law Society of BC, preparing and co-teaching a course at UBC law school on access to justice and the future of the legal profession, leading a “client-centred legal services” project at the A-G’s Legal Services Branch, and advising legal technology start-ups that aim to improve access to justice.
He has led law and policy reform projects on several topics including climate action. He advises organizations that are using innovation and technology to tackle stubborn public policy problems.
