Kathy brings with her over 25 years experience in Conflict Management. Her span of work covers mediations, facilitated discussions, conflict coaching, group needs assessments, group facilitations, delivery of conflict management training and workshops, coaching, and mentorship.
Her main areas of work were with the Department of National Defence, Health Canada, RCMP, and other government departments with a specific focus on workplace conflict. She began her mediation career mediating between employers and employees who had filled complaints of unjust dismissal when Kathy worked as a Labour Affairs Officer enforcing the Canada Labour Code related to Labour Standards and Occupational Health and Safety.
Kathy managed a team of Conflict Management professionals both Military and Civilian delivering services in Western Canada in support of a National Conflict Management Program. She mentored and guided staff which included providing solo and co-mediation services.
Along with Kathy’s work with Federal Government Departments she mediated in the Civil Court Mediation Program for Alberta Justice for over 15 years.
Kathy is a Chartered Mediator with a degree in Human Resources and Labour Relations, carries a certificate in Conflict Management from Alberta Arbitration and Mediation Society, is a certified Conflict Coach and has taken many other courses specific to human resource management, effective communication and conflict in the workplace.
She has a keen interest in sharing her knowledge and experience in the field of conflict in organizations.
Kathy currently runs her own private Conflict Management business and resides with her husband in Qualicum Beach, BC.
