Kathleen MacDonald (Cert. ConRes., B.A., B.Ed., M.A.) specializes in training both adolescents and adults in conflict and anger management, communication skills, Real Restitution, mediation, negotiation, and community (team) building. In partnership with the Justice Institute of BC, she authored a comprehensive educator’s resource and corresponding student manual entitled Fundamentals of Conflict Resolution (2001), which targets grades 8 to 12. She has been teaching for 27 years and currently teaches conflict resolution, psychology and career-life courses at New Westminster Secondary School. Additional roles she has held include District Social Responsibility Facilitator, conference and workshop presenter for teachers, parents and child-care workers, as well as teacher and student mediator. In addition to conflict resolution training, she has focused her professional development in the areas of adolescent brain development, mental health for youth, mindfulness and stress management, career development and goal setting. She completed a personal development program with Jack Canfield focused on “The Success Principles.”
