Bryce is a graduate of UBC and Queen Mary College, University of London, England. He is a barrister of Lincoln’s Inn London, and has been a practising lawyer in the Vancouver area for 34 years. He currently manages MBJLaw in Langley and oversees Terms & Conditions, a purpose-built mediation centre in downtown Langley.
Bryce has conducted over 2,500 commercial mediations and has written a book on mediation entitled Commercial Mediation: a passionate practice. In 2019 he completed his arbitration qualification through ADRBC and Royal Roads University.
Bryce’s law practice focuses on conveyancing and real estate issues. He has also practiced in the area of wills and estates. He believes that these subjects are fertile ground for dispute resolution processes and is often surprised that more of these cases are not mediated.
Bryce is a proponent of hands-on mediation, where the mediator, while not interfering with the guidance between a solicitor and a client, can encourage pathways to settlement by way of application of a mediator’s observations and intuitive insight to the problem before the parties.
Bryce believes there is great benefit from having a third party, like a mediator, search for the ways and means to help all find resolutions in disputes that would otherwise hold the potential to be a win or loss in court.
