Arlene is a lawyer, mediator, instructor, child interviewer, parenting coordinator and med- arbitrator. She has practiced law since 1986; mediated since 1998; and is particularly interested in the mindful restructuring of families, within family, estate and business law.
She is a former Board member of Mediate BC and a current member of each of its Civil, Family and Med- Arb Rosters and has a special interest in children & youth participation in dispute resolution processes. Arlene recently completed ten-years on the BC Hear the Child Society Board, and eight-years on the BC Parenting Coordinators Roster Society Board and is actively involved in the development of each discipline within BC and Canada. In addition, Arlene designed and teaches the Parenting Coordinator training course; co-designed and teaches the Med-Arb training course, the Family Law Mediation curriculum and courses and family violence screening courses in BC and the family law arbitration training in BC and across Canada.
Arlene is the 2020 Recipient of the Susanna Jani Award for Excellence in Mediation.
Experienced in working with Indigenous communities across the Nation since 1991, Arlene is particularly proud of her work assisting with the final negotiations and implementation of the treaties for each of the Tsawwassen First Nation and the Maa-nulth First Nations.
