Amber Wise earned her PhD in Chemistry from UC-Berkeley followed by a Postdoctoral Fellowship at UC-San Francisco. Before transitioning to the cannabis industry, she was an undergraduate chemistry lecturer and research professor for 7 years at universities in San Francisco, Bangladesh and Chicago. After transitioning out of academia in 2016, she was the Scientific Director at Avitas Agriculture in Washington and Oregon for two years, overseeing the cannabis extraction and refinement facilities as well as handling the data analysis, new product development and scientific growth of the company. She currently leads Medicine Creek Analytics, an ISO-17025 accredited and WA-statecertified cannabis testing lab owned by the Puyallup Tribe of Indians. She is a long-time member of the American Chemical Society and she hosted the scientific symposia for the ACS Cannabis subdivision for the past five years. She has also served on a number of Washington State’s working groups on cannabis science and policy as well as been invited to appear on numerous podcasts and interviews in journals and popular media on cannabis science topics.
