Nick is a lawyer, mediator and Principal of Collaborative Law Corporation and Mediation Centre, based in Nanaimo, British Columbia (collaborativelegal.ca). Nick has acted in thousands of family law and workplace settlements and mediations in his career both in Australia and Canada, and on various committees promoting a non-litigation approach to family law.

Nick believes that solving family and business disputes takes a tool chest of different options: from negotiation, to mediation, med-arb, and collaborative settlements – and that competent practitioners need to spend the time to choose the correct dispute resolution tool for each client. One program designed by Nick is the “1 Day Divorce” (1daydivorce.ca), which uses a team based evaluative mediation approach to resolve family law disputes quickly and cost effectively with a 90% resolution rate.
